"Cowards in Congress Fuel Trump's Fire"

Let’s call it what it is; cowardice dressed up in red, white, and bullshit.
There’s a quiet panic settling into the Republican ranks on Capitol Hill; one that’s got nothing to do with Joe Biden, Kamala Harris or Gavin Newsom, and everything to do with the unhinged lunatic they re-sold their souls to, not just back in 2016, but again in 2024. That’s right, sold their souls to. As we are now approaching day 100 of his second term; God help us all, and the Republican Party is frozen with fear, grinning like fucking idiots while the country burns.
Politico’s Jonathan Martin was right to point it out: Republicans are hiding the panic. But let me take it further; they’re not just hiding it; they’re suffocating under the weight of their own complicity. The fear isn’t just electoral. It’s existential. They helped reinstall a twice-impeached, four-time criminal defendant who now believes that a second term means total immunity and unchecked power. And while he rules by executive fiat, they smile for the cameras like nothing is wrong.
They refuse to stand up against his barrage of executive actions, even when they know; know, they’re unconstitutional, immoral, and flat-out authoritarian. Where’s the resistance? Where are the principled conservatives? Where’s the “country first” caucus we keep hearing about in donor memos and press conferences?
I’ll tell you where; they’re buried beneath a steaming pile of cowardice and a desperate, pathetic need to stay in Trump’s good graces. Because to cross him now isn’t just political suicide; it’s personal annihilation. Say the wrong thing, vote the wrong way, and you’ll find yourself ousted by MAGA extremists, doxxed by trolls, and replaced by a conspiracy-spouting lunatic in your next primary. Just ask Adam Kinzinger or Liz Cheney.
But here’s the kicker: They don’t even need to jump ship from the GOP to stop this. I’m not asking them to become bleeding-heart liberals or show up on MSNBC with a ‘GO DEMOCRATS’ bumper sticker. I’m asking them to vote like Americans. Like people who actually give a shit about the Constitution they swear to uphold. They could simply vote across the aisle; just like Democrats did to save Mike Johnson from being eaten alive by his own MAGA base.
They don’t even have to change parties; just change course. Just for once, vote with the rule of law, not against it.
And what happened to bipartisanship? To friendship? To decency? These people used to be friends. They laughed together. Worked together. Had a beer together. Some of them even traveled overseas together. Now? A cold shoulder. A sideways glance. A fake smile hiding terror. Trump hasn’t just corrupted politics; he’s destroyed human connection.
And let me be crystal clear: Trump is not playing some 4D political chess match. He’s bulldozing democracy. Court rulings? He wipes his ass with them. Criticism? He feeds off it like a parasite. Opposition? He crushes it, or threatens to lock it up. His executive orders read like the wishlist of a banana republic strongman, and his enablers in Congress nod along like bobbleheads.
The terrifying truth? We’ve got about 15 months left; until the 2026 midterms, to put up a firewall against this madness. Because Trump isn’t stopping. If you think he’s content with just the presidency, you don’t understand the man you’re dealing with. He wants it all: House, Senate, courts, DOJ, military. The man is actively daring the Constitution to try and stop him; and if we let him, he’ll break it over his knee.
Republicans in Congress have the power to stop this. And stop it right now. They can break ranks. They can restore balance. They can act like the patriots they pretend to be. But they won’t. Not unless we force them.
So here’s the question every Republican senator and representative needs to answer; What are you so afraid of? Losing your seat? Or losing your country?
And here’s the question we need to ask ourselves; What the hell are we going to do about it? Because democracy isn’t something we inherit; it’s something we protect. It dies in apathy. In silence. In shrugs. It dies when we let a madman rewrite the rules because we’re too tired, too scared, or too distracted to stand up and say enough. No more!
Donald Trump is counting on our silence. He’s betting that we’ll keep scrolling while he keeps scheming. That we’ll stay divided, distracted, and disillusioned.
But he’s wrong.
We still have a voice. We still have power. And if the cowards in Congress won’t use theirs, then we damn well better use ours; before the country we love is lost for good.
