What really upsets me is that you swore your whole purpose on Substack was to make sure the Democrats win the midterms. You said it over and over, emphasizing that it was highly important to restore our tripartite balance of power in the government.

I became a paid subscriber in January actually to get access to your “paid subscriber only” livestreams but also to support your content and your goal of regaining our tripartite balance of power.

Now, only a little over a half of my annual subscription later, you have reunited with Trump and that’s up to you of course but that has changed the focus of the articles you write which are now in praise of him and his administration while being demeaning to the democrats.

I am highly disappointed. You can do what you want with your life and I’m happy for you that you landed the job at the radio station, but the content you were providing when I subscribed has taken a 180 degree turn.

That’s your prerogative, of course. I just didn’t expect it and it disappoints me because I need uplifting positive content in support of the democrats so we can save our democracy from the current authoritarian leaning rule.

I’m just here to say that I don’t care for the slamming of democrats and your going back on your stated purpose of winning the midterms.

Now it seems your purpose is for the republicans to win the midterms.

I’m similarly disappointed. I’ve enjoyed and learned from Michael’s writing. Michael is, of course, free to change his mind. What strikes me, though, is that he cast his lot with Trump before, when Trump was ascendant, and how did that work out? Now that Trump is on the decline, Michael cozies up to him again. I remember a time when Trump was asked about Stormy Daniels. Trump replied to the effect of, “I don’t know. You need to talk to my lawyer Michael Cohen.” So I guess Michael is ready to debase himself for Trump yet again. Good luck with that.

I’m sure this reunion was based on perceived benefits for both parties. But, I hear you. Who knows how it will pan out.

Good points, Doreen, and well articulated. I'm saddened and disappointed, as well. I don't necessarily care if Cohen mends fences with Trump. I do care a lot about his recent articles. They seem one-sided, in support of right wing talking points.

Entirely ignored, day after name, are the dozens of criminal, corrupt acts of this administration.

And its cohorts. People like Roger Stone, who invented the “Stop the Steal” slogan before 2016. When Trump actually won, he put it away. Then, in 2020, Biden won. Out the slogan comes again. A self described “ dirty trickster” who was surrounded by the Oath Keepers on Jan.6….

Well, this time I disagree. Your point is valid when the government is functioning. "If every Trump executive order is “fascism,” every sporting event is “dangerous,” every policy is “the end of democracy,” and every deviation from Democratic orthodoxy is treated as an existential threat, eventually Americans tune it out." The problem is that Trump IS governing by executive orders. He IS a fascist. His policies ARE a threat to Democracy. We are past the point of being ignored when crying wolf. You don't necessarily need to get to the finish line before you figure out that the path is bad. The person increasingly finding good in this administration is you. Personally, Trump has completely shown me that he is an imbecile, a liar, a narcissist, and he is also a felon. I don't require any more 'facts' to decide that Trump is, in fact, destroying the country. I'm not crying wolf; I am using my brain to evaluate the situation. And my brain says our country is in desperate need of an honest, intelligent, and compassionate leader.

Michael, clearly you have both feet firmly placed in all things Trump, to the point of seeming like you have sold your soul and common sense to him.

Howard's avatar

Mikey - do you buy groceries or gas or paint or lumber? It's all gone through the roof. People cannot afford to live and you are trying to justify UFC fighting and Indy racing. People cannot afford healthcare. We are living in a fascist autocratic government that does not give a shit about the average worker or American. Only the wealthy matter. We all see it. When you know we know

Jennifer Kass's avatar

Howard, I cracked up when I saw this part.

And just because Donald Trump came up with an idea doesn’t mean the idea itself must immediately be rejected, condemned, investigated, litigated and accompanied by a panel discussion featuring twelve people explaining why civilization is approximately 48 hours from collapse.

Let's take out the words Donald Trump and put in Zohran Mamdani. Then think back to the past couple of weeks of Cohen's writing. Hypocrisy much?

Jennifer Kass's avatar

HAHA, the very next day, here we are with another Mamdani hit piece. Oh no! Rich New Yorkers might have to pay more taxes. Where are my smelling salts??

Of course this will not end well. I agree. For all that are connected.

And as others have pointed out in the last few days-perhaps WE ARE BEING PLAYED!

My thoughts exactly.

Janet Heath's avatar

Michael, you are missing the point. It isn’t that Democrats disagree with all of his policies because they do agree with some of his policies. I am spending time with a brother in FL who is a die hard Democrat. He agrees with canceling production of the penny as it costs way too much to produce. He agrees with something to control immigration so to curtail illegal immigration. But he feels like ICE should be abolished as they have gone way too far to reform them. Democrats and Republicans alike agree that Iran should not have a nuclear weapon. But Trump has mismanaged this situation like he has so many. Trump tore up the JCPOA which was an agreement to keep the enriched uranium levels low and allow random inspections which was not a disaster as Trump repeated during your interview. That JCPOA prevented Iran from having a nuclear weapon. Obama was successful in getting Iran to the table. But Trump destroyed it all. And here we are. If Trump was successful in destroying Iran’s nuclear capability, why are we still at war??? There would be no war if it wasn’t for Donald Trump. And there would still be an Israel. The economy is not good. Americans are hurting. To hear Trump talk, he knows more than the experts about everything. That is a dangerous way to think. Most of his cabinet is made up of FOX News people who are not experts. People like Pete Hegseth and RFK are downright scarey. It is scary that we have a complicit Congress. And the President should be investigated, litigated and discussed or any President for that matter. We don’t need to be sheep. Trump is doing a lot of dangerous things. Trump has spent an exhorbitant amount of money and at the expense of people losing their livelihoods to put money back into the cauffers. Trump is spending our money on frivolous things like the UFC event. That would have been fine if people had not suffered. DOGE destroyed lives in the name of slashing spending of our taxpayer dollars. Trump has increased the national debt not reduce it. And how about acknowledging Trump and the Republicans how they treat Obama and Biden? They call everything Barrack and Joe did was a disaster, so turn about fair play. We need to get off this roller coaster. We need to stop putting radicals and liars in the Oval Office and put people in who truly want what is best for all of us regardless of party. THIS NEEDS TO STOP!!!!

Dawn Cali's avatar

Janet,

Wait until after the Mid-Terms and the balance of the cuts hit Americans?

Republicans did this on purpose. Kind of like passing bills late at night. They

tend to love Friday nites, huh? Sneaky.

More Bad Days are coming.

Thanks for pointing out that when you talk about Democrats, they are not all the same and in fact agree to some degree with Republicans on some needed changes.

Remember Bi-Partisan days? Best of both sides. A Middle Ground. There is NO Middle Ground with Congress and SCOTUS compromised.

When you know, you KNOW.

Americans deserve better.

To quote Michael Cohen, “You don’t build credibility by screaming continuously.” Isn’t that pretty much like your daily routine? Sometimes, when redemption turns to acquiescence, hypocrisy has no bounds.

Lauren Smith's avatar

Okay, just so you know, I don't give a damn if Trump wants to have fights on the White House lawn (although I think they were undignified) or a Grand Prix event in the Capitol as long as it's safe and WE DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! However, let's get to the meat of this article. The DEMS are NOT the only ones disagreeing and sounding alarms about everything! Sorry Michael. I've heard more arguments from the Trump team and have heard more alarms sounding about issues that are just not true. The alarmist cry that Democrats are Communists for instance. Why not just resurrect McCarthy? That statement is just not true. And before you argue that the Dems are calling the Repubs Facists, just look at the harm they've done to our country. If I need to list all of the particulars, you haven't been paying attention. In Trumps orbit, people react negatively and with fear because Trump lies every time he opens his mouth. I can't accept at face value anything the man says. His facts are incorrect or at least very misleading. He has destroyed, or plans to destroy, many of DC'S most beautiful, historic sights to satisfy his vain lust for immortality. Additionally, when a convicted felon and a rapist holds the most important and influential job in the land, you would be a fool to believe him.

Skip Day's avatar

Do your b*lls hurt from trying to straddle the fence?

Your friend’s quote is an old one and generally true about events. However, YOU taught us that if Trump gains an inch on a topic he will push harder. So constant outrage might be a survival tactic against Trump.

Do you believe Trump is a democracy oriented president? That everything is functioning fine?

Trump is a dictator running a fascist regime. Every action needs to be met with friction.

And your made up term of the tired majority is fully awake about Trump’s bullshit. Look at the polls. Except you and the boss think polls are fake when it suits you.

Solon's avatar

Skip,

I can't process how anyone can sell out Democracy?

Even for their own gain whether money or power, etc.

Not just for yourself, but for your children and grandchildren.......and your commuity.

Skip Day's avatar

Solon. The answer to 9 questions out of 10 is money. Why care if I can get mine?

Curtis Yarvin. A pseudo intellectual philosopher, among many, believe democracy needs to be abolished. The tech bros want to abolish democracy.

Democracy is for the people. Not the upper class.

Susan Hassinger's avatar

It seems to me that ever since Trump got back into power he has caused nothing but chaos and five alarm fires on every front. I feel I can't stop screaming and complaining because everyday it's another thing he destroys in our democracy and our way of American life.

My biggest complaint is ice and the way they have handled the deportation of people that they consider horrible immigrants I know that these women and these detention centers are being sexually abused and some have gotten pregnant and I am sure that what they do with all those babies and those women I can't even imagine. I don't trust anything this authoritarian regime is doing they're a disgrace.

Doreen Peri's avatar

Yes! It’s horrible!! Thank you for speaking out

Diane Stewart's avatar

Michael, the thought keeps circling my mind this am., that if in quiet moments when you are alone, you think about why so many of us are so outraged and disappointed, etc., by you?

Skip Day's avatar

He doesn’t think like that. No narcissist thinks like we do.

Diane Stewart's avatar

Spot on, Skip. I got fooled, because when he was in solitary confinement, my heart ached for Michael, and I truly thought he had changed, but in actuality, he was a narcissist in sheep’s clothing, and I got taken in during that time.

Dawn Cali's avatar

Diane,

We all get taken at times in our lives. All of us.

I think most of us want to believe the best. Unfortunately that makes groups of People easy to manipulate and control..........

More important is to take this information and talk to other People and encourage them to vote Democratic.

Democrats=Democracy

Republicans=Dictatorship and Facism

When you know, you KNOW!

Americans deserve better.

Skip Day's avatar

Diane- Many of us were. I believed in second chances. His commentary after prison was convincing. His first mea culpa podcast with Rosie was emotionally moving. At some point he changed, more like the fixer cohen that we read about. He had an agenda and he used every single one of us for a reason. Those followers who now fetishize him will not accept facts that are in black and white. They believe his word, what he says, it captivates their critical thinking.

Wow, I never thought of that:

"Yes, it is a Pardon, but isn't this also about covering up the Epstein information? Is it Katie Johnson-Jane Doe 1, 2, 3, 4? Isn't that the young girl you (Michael Cohen) intimidated for Trump? How about the Real Estate deals you did with Trump over the years (Russian Oligarchs)? Other Financial Transactions?" (Dawn Cali)

I learn something new everyday. That makes sense. We should get this out everywhere. Why? People take one view, in this case the Pardon. I bet Zev, Ellie and Lev are onto this too.

Going to put this out everywhere.

Thank you.

Skip Day's avatar

I forget the actual number of girls (13 maybe) that filed sexual complaints against Trump during his pageants. And cohen managed those pageants. Based on how we know cohen, do you think he treated those seriously or simply fixed the problem?

Cohen claims to know Trump better than anyone. That puts him in full knowledge of trumps hundreds of bank accounts. How Trump was miraculously saved from each bankruptcy and every crime Trump committed.

They shared phone contacts and you think Trump had no contact for Epstein? Cohen had it too.

Cohen is guilty also for every crime committed by Trump. Epstein, Epstein, Epstein.

Cohen is desperate for a pardon. The heat is coming down and he needs protection now.

Dawn Cali's avatar

Skip, don't Presidential Pardons only protect you from Federal Charges and not State?

If I was Michael Cohen and this was a chess match, this would not be a move I would make. Too much liability on the line...................when Trump falls, so will he.

When you know, you KNOW!

Americans deserve better.
