Every goddamn day there is something else that this administration does to destroy any pleasure we have. Of course we need security. That happens at every event. That is normal action, but to deny entry and say that those who have taken all steps necessary to enter the country peacefully to enjoy the WORLD CUP EVENT is disgraceful. I wonder when people will be forced to switch from good morning Mr President to Seig Heil!

I went to a Chicago Blackhawks game a little while ago, and as we left the arena, there were ICE agents standing outside. It was disconcerting for me, and I am a white lifelong American citizen. I cannot imagine how the presence of ICE would affect people coming from other countries, especially those on Trump's "naughty list". Had it been regular Chicago police, I wouldn't have batted an eye. That is normal. But masked thugs with zero accountability? Chilling.

Once again this is Trumps fault full stop. If I lived in another country and was scheduled to come I would cancel. Sadly visitors are not safe . They can be thrown into one of his private death camps. We don't know how many people may have passed away in them. By all reports the conditions in them are atrocious. It will take years for our allies to trust us again. One election of a normal person won't do it. My heart breaks for our country . I hope and pray that we can get back at least the house Nov. 3rd. lost in america

But it’s just us and our TDS, right Michael? We’re irrational, right Michael? This isn’t a fascist regime and we are out of line for wanting our spineless, dickless Congress to STAND UP, DO ITS FUCKING JOB AND REMOVE HIM, RIGHT MICHAEL?!

Barbara Ann's avatar

I have to agree with you, Heather, nothing about this waste of human flesh is normal!

And expect more of the same and worse for the Olympics

Michael

It's called "the WORLD CUP" not the "TRUMP'S CUp". How much more must we suffer from this man?

OldBat's avatar

Another day, another mess.

Kim Cucoch's avatar

This just makes me so angry and sad at the same time.

It is disgraceful and heartbreaking.

Then “they” will say, why doesn’t anyone want to come to the US anymore.

I’m truly glad I live in Canada!

Joanne Held's avatar

I still have family in Canada. I thought about relocating, but I'm too old (for me).

Is this another way for Trump exercise his control over the world? The World Cup is supposed to be a celebration and promote unity through sport. The only thing he cares about is showing that he is in charge, the all-powerful King of the world. It makes me sick to my stomach that this crazy man is president of the United States of America. A country that so many used to admire and respect. He has taken it down into the toilet with him. I am so sad.

I said it yesterday and I’m going to say it again. There could be more color to the article if Trump’s name was actually in the article and how Michael’s unique understanding could provide better insight to this clusterfuck. Who is your target audience lately? Trump, the right, or the centrists? Where is your value add if you straddle the fence?

Why should Cohen be tribal. I hope he is writing for folk capable of rational thought, not just to confirm existing reader bias.

Skip Day's avatar

His insight on Trump is invaluable. To ignore that is disappointing not confirmation bias. Cohen repeats it all the time that nobody knows him better than himself. It isn’t tribal for him to address Trump directly. It is value added if he can provide insight about trump’s patterns or behavior. Is it not irrational to expect comments on Trump after Michael has called him a “narcissist sociopath” on national TV.

He is, he is indeed. Plenty of other favorable sites for you to find your happy place.

Skip Day's avatar

Is Michael Cohen your happy place? You’ve never liked or restacked anything about MC. I can criticize and show my opinion but I do restack with a quote and like every article.

Deb Bennett's avatar

Yes, Skip Day, I understand what you are saying.

Dianne K 🐱🐶🐈‍⬛ 🐾❤️'s avatar

Wow, Skip! Getting a little “salty?” 🤣

My comments have been hidden, along with a few others. They all say something “unfavorable” about Trump.

Deb Bennett's avatar

How terribly sad and sickening. This downfall of the US.

This whole thing is so f***ed! Why did we want to host it in the first place? It's probably Biden and Obama's fault, right? Not the President awarded the FIFA Peace trophy. Instead he holds this disgusting sporting event on the WH lawn. ( I remember you like this "sport" Michael). I hope it's 100degrees, 98% humidity, blaring down sun on that event!

And our Congress has just gave ICE and Border whatevers their budget money to continue hassling innocent people. ICE better show up on the WH Lawn on Sunday!

Barbara Ann's avatar

Argue with me if you must, but he is showing more and more signs of his brain rot; he needs to be removed, full stop.

Veronica Barrera's avatar

I don’t know if it’s brain rot or not, Barbara Ann, but Trump is a greedy, narcissistic con man and pathological liar surrounded by a** kissing enablers who want to just be close to power and money. This current problem with the World Cup and ICE is absolutely horrible. I feel so bad for these athletes who have practiced for years and their families who have been there for them. What this administration is doing is making people all over the world hate us and, God forbid, harm us.

🇨🇦Gail 🇨🇦🍁's avatar

Yep Trump’s brain has already evolved past the point of no return ………. he MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY

Kim Cucoch's avatar

I’m so angry I decided to say more.

These athletes train their whole lives for this tournament. It is the pinnacle of their sport. Referees too. To be called to referee at a World Cup is such an honour.

This is so disappointing not only for us but mostly for them.

Makes me sad to see this happening.

Theresa Bush's avatar

I agree Kim. Probably the only time in their lives to reach a pinnacle point in their sport and it's been ruined. It'sike giving your child the birthday party of their life and then destroying everything as soon as the other kids get there.

Janet Heath's avatar

Pitiful! This administration including the man at the top is the epitome of disgust!!!

Joanne Held's avatar

It is horrible that every day there is a 'new' thing that should concern us. And, it isn't paranoia, there is a new thing. They aren't necessarily new, but new to us. Governmental interference in sporting events is today's focal point. I doubt any of us are surprised since our Felon 47 interferes and causes problems with practically everything he can. I am not embarrassed or angry. This dull feeling surrounds me today. I don't even watch Soccer. The fact that we are hosting the tournament is weird enough. I am sad for the players, the spectators, and the press. And, yes, I am concerned.

Doreen Peri's avatar

Every. Single. Day. This country experiences a new low because of our current president and his administration. It’s worse than sad. It’s pitiful, shameful, and pathetic. So many people are negatively affected. I’m a big fan of your writing and truth telling, Michael. I read you every day. I love how you are committed to reporting facts, not rage baiting. But guess what? The facts about this president and his administration enrage me! It’s sad. I’m tired.
