As Putin’s missiles rain terror across Ukraine, swarms of cheap drones now bring the war home to Moscow, shattering the illusion of Russian invincibility.
Excellent article Michael. Putin is a bully. A military Goliath. Ukraine is David. He killed Goliath with a slingshot. After 4 long horrible years Ukraine is still standing and Russia is no longer the military might it once was. Long live Ukraine
I know that every nation in NATO must agree to new members joining under current rules. But, since orange Jesus is so hot on leaving it, they should let him. In fact, kick him out. What's he going to do about it? He's already caused damage from his pronouncements about the purpose of NATO, and the EU/NATO is finally awakening to that reality and the need to shed US influence.
What would the head of state of a foreign country think after meeting Trump?
They would know that they met an 80-year-old man who was borderline obese and had deteriorated over the past year. If you compare a picture of Trump from a year ago to his appearance today, you will see this physical deterioration. Mentally, they would conclude that he has limited intelligence and difficulty staying focused; at times, he seems to be falling asleep. His walking and physical movements are fragile; he moves slowly and carefully, trying to conceal them. They would know that his physical capabilities are deteriorating and that, in the next year, he will be incapacitated and unable to remain in office. They would be aware that his public approval is sliding and that he will be limited after the November election.
They would immediately recognize that he is compensating for low self-esteem and is always seeking praise. He avoided any intense, long discussions of significant topics. His knowledge of important topics is minimal and superficial, and he fakes any in-depth knowledge of world affairs.
They would realize that he lies constantly, fabricates, and falsifies facts, and that he is unaware that they are aware of his constant lying. They would also be aware that he will change any decision he makes whenever he wants, that what he says is based on falsified facts, and that anything he says or does means nothing; he is a weak opponent and well below their standards, with no international diplomatic sophistication.
They would know that Trump is more interested in his financial interests than in negotiating critical international terms. They do not understand how America could have such a limited person as its president; he is easily manipulated, has difficulty staying focused, and at times is unable to engage in a serious discussion.
They would realize they could manipulate America to serve their interests and would see Trump as a weak representative of America. He is a worthless, weak negotiator who does not meet the standards of a country's president; he was no adversary worthy of the presidency of a country as powerful as America.
All true, but who among us here didn't already know this years ago? I will never understand why other leaders in the world didn't? Follow the money. As always.
Thank you for highlighting this so well Michael. The Trump admin is so unserious about issues of real consequence. Our 4th grade president wants to be buddies with Putin, while Putin targets and kills civilians every night in Ukraine. Most Americans are mostly worried about the price of gas for their oversized cars, while Ukrainians are being killed and maimed in their homes, schools and hospitals. We should be supporting them with everything they need to defned themselves. Instead, we have complete clowns like JD Vance and Pete Hegseth jerking them around. We can and should do better.
Ukraine is fighting hard for their democracy and independence, something Americans took for granted and now may lose. I’ve never liked Donald Trump but the day he and Eyeliner Elegy yelled at Zelenskyy like a couple of children in the Oval Office turned my dislike into hatred with the fire of a thousand suns. That Zelenskyy had to wear a suit and praise Trump over and over again made my skin crawl. I am so sick of people debasing themselves over an internet troll who happens to be the most powerful man on earth.
Agree! I was so upset that day watching how Trump and Vance treated Zelensky I went right out that afternoon and participated in my first (of many) demonstrations.
I was watching the contemptible scolding by Vance. I almost threw up. I realized that my jaw had dropped all the way open. I am permanently embarrassed at this point to be an American. Skin crawling is an excellent choice of words.
I noticed that when MBS visited the WH, no one asked him why he wasn't wearing a suit. His robes might have been concealing weapons such as those his hitmen used in killing Kashoggi.
I am hoping that this will be the end of Russian terror on Ukraine. Putin thinks that he can not only control Ukraine, but the world through manipulation. If a country not expected to survive can do the impossible, then maybe the world stands a chance.
Ukraine is still standing and stronger than ever depending on their wits and engenuity and their love for their homeland. No thanks to your ex boss who abandoned them pretty much when he first got into office. Instead he lifted santions on Russia's trade. Now Russia is supporting Iran against the US and we need Ukraines help for their drone technology. Maybe it's not as simple or black and white as I'm stating but does anybody see the great irony here?? Slava Ukraina 🇺🇦🇺🇦
My fear is that Putin will start manufacturing more drones. Are his as good as Zelensky's? Maybe not, but he can lock his engineers in a room and demand that the duplicate the Ukrainian ones. The world, and Ukraine, may need a different arrow in their quiver to end Putin's reign of terror.
Maybe the Ukrainians could hack all the computers in the Kremlin so they showed clips from Death of Stalin popping up at random, 24/7? I've wished this for some years. Russia, if you - any of you who want to end the horrors - are listening ...
Bring it on!!! President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. I too hate the idea of war, but you sometimes have to face bullies head on. Sometimes you have no choice.
Inexpensive drones against tanks!! Intellect against narcissism. Thank you for this excellent article, Michael.
...and please remember Trump's vow that he would end the war "within 24 hours of taking office." In fact, he said he might have everything settled before his inauguration. Who's kidding whom?
Yes, Julie, but in the 20th century: Franco, Salazar, Papa and Baby Doc Duvalier, Gaddafi, etc.l lasted decades. True, the ones who made war lasted less long but still much longer than Trump so far.
sounds like Trump is using Putin's playbook and following his advice. "he confused size with strength". Just gonna take a couple days and we can dust ourselves off and move on. Trump is such a bully, lying, cheating, raping, killing, corruption, war crimes. Why don't the loser Republicans in Congress do something about the monster they helped create?!
And gee, isn't there another war, two actually, launched by ego-driven men who said it would be over in days? Dragging on, as the "lesser" power hangs on defiantly, even as its innocent civilians are targeted. Since when did America become a shakedown bully? Israel, an enraged power, using its military might and that of its longtime ally to brutally put down a population that it should be co-existing with? Well ... look to the "leaders." Russia. USA. Israel.
THANKS, Michael. Of course, Benedict Donald, our own Quisling "President," with mush for what still passes for brains, will never realize this -- or that it applies to US, now, to a great extent.
His Republiscum accomplices MAY recognize this -- some of them, but won't act.

The EU should absorb Ukraine into NATO sans the Trump
Regime and state very clearly;
“Ukraine is a member of NATO and an attack against one of us is an attack on us all”

Absolutely agree.
We are the laughing stock of the world right now! 💯 joke!

Yes, it was a completely sickening scene.
I was watching the contemptible scolding by Vance. I almost threw up. I realized that my jaw had dropped all the way open. I am permanently embarrassed at this point to be an American. Skin crawling is an excellent choice of words.

Mumble.
Asymmetric warfare. Adapting on the fly. The ability to think outside the box is a nation’s strength, not a bloated military budget.
Michael
An excellent read today. It was a pleasure to visualize the destruction of Putin's mighty regime by the tiny drone!
It's time the bully falls.
