The Republican Party just got a rude awakening in Wisconsin. In what should serve as a flashing neon sign that their strategy is crumbling, Susan Crawford won her race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. This wasn’t just another election; it was a referendum on the GOP’s latest disaster: the delusional idea that Elon Musk, of all people, could be their guiding light to electoral victory.
Let’s be real here; Elon is not the guy you want making your political pitch to working-class Americans. He’s the face of chaos, DOGE layoffs, social security uncertainty, and Silicon Valley arrogance. He’s the billionaire who buys up companies, guts them for profit, and then has the audacity to present himself as some kind of visionary savior. Wisconsin voters, blue-collar to their core, saw right through the con. They know a snake oil salesman when they see one; especially one with no connection to Wisconsin wearing a cheesehead hat.
In the days leading up to the election, Musk and his band of right-wing tech bros were pushing a dystopian message, warning of “woke extremism” and how a conservative court was necessary to prevent so-called radical leftist policies. The problem? That message doesn’t resonate when people are struggling to pay rent, afford healthcare, and keep their jobs in a turbulent economy that guys like Musk are actively destabilizing.
Musk is the symbol of everything that’s wrong with the Republican Party’s current playbook. He’s about job cuts, attacks on Social Security, and a government that caters exclusively to the ultra-wealthy. His platform? Deregulate everything, let corporations run wild, and if you don’t like it; pack up and leave. It’s a message that plays well in the boardrooms of Wall Street, but in places like Milwaukee and Green Bay? Not a chance.
Wisconsin isn’t for sale. It never was. And yet, the GOP, fueled by Musk’s warped libertarian fever dreams, banked on the idea that Wisconsinites would blindly follow a billionaire who’s actively making life worse for them and everyday Americans. The result? A brutal slap in the face at the ballot box.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court race was no small deal. This was a fight over abortion rights, voting rights, and the basic tenets of democracy. Crawford’s victory means that the court maintains a liberal majority, which is a disaster for Republicans who were counting on rigging the state’s electoral maps for the next decade. It also means that the conservative dream of rolling back abortion rights in Wisconsin just hit a massive roadblock.
Republicans needed a win here. Badly. After losing in 2023, they doubled down, hoping to swing the pendulum back their way. But instead of focusing on real issues, they turned to culture war nonsense and let Musk, a billionaire who couldn’t care less about their voters, dictate the terms of the conversation. It backfired spectacularly.
At a time when the country is teetering on the edge of multiple crises, Elon Musk represents chaos. His tenure at Twitter (or “X” as his ego demanded it be called) has been a masterclass in self-inflicted disaster. He immediately fired thousands of workers, turned the platform into a haven for extremists, and now acts as if he’s a political kingmaker, dishing out endorsements like candy.
The lesson here is simple: the GOP’s strategy is an absolute failure. They bet on the wrong messenger with the wrong message. Instead of addressing real concerns; wages, healthcare, infrastructure, they hitched their wagon to Musk’s libertarian fantasyland. And Wisconsin voters told them to take that message and shove it up their ass.
If Republicans want to keep losing, they should keep listening to Musk. Keep pushing anti-worker, anti-democracy policies while worshiping at the altar of billionaires who couldn’t care less about the people they exploit. Because if this election proves anything, it’s that voters are done with the grift.
Susan Crawford’s win is more than just a Democratic victory; it’s a warning shot. The people of Wisconsin just reminded the GOP that their state isn’t a billionaire’s playground. It’s a battleground for real issues, and the voters who show up aren’t interested in Elon Musk’s or Trump’s detached, chaotic vision of America.
Republican arrogance, since Trump’s presidential win, will no doubt prevent them from acknowledging that this shift is happening. And thus, they’re doomed to repeat this failure again and again; for which we should all be eternally grateful!

It’s so nice to see a little sunshine in the darkness 😌
This is so well said with honesty and clarity. We can’t let up.
