"24 Hours to Peace? We're Still Waiting"
Trump vowed to end the Ukraine war in 24 hours; now the world teeters as dictators rise and America shrinks into dangerous, delusional silence.
Remember when Donald Trump, in that raspy carnival barker voice of his, declared he'd end the war in Ukraine “within 24 hours”? Like he was pitching a ShamWow on late-night TV. Fast forward to today: the war rages on, peace talks just collapsed after less than an hour; less time than it takes Trump to finish a bucket of KFC, and not a single damn thing has changed.
What happened, Mr. President? Was the problem that Ukraine didn’t give you a gold-plated tower in Kyiv? Or that Vladimir Putin didn’t flatter your “big brain” this time around?
Let’s cut through the garbage. Trump’s promise to end the war wasn’t just naïve; it was dangerous. It was the kind of delusion only possible from a man who thinks foreign policy is a cameo in a Bond movie. Turns out, ending a war between a power-mad Russian dictator and a sovereign democracy isn’t as easy as signing a Heritage Foundation executive order and waddling into an Oval Office press briefing. Who knew?
Now we’re all witnessing the fallout. Russia still shells Ukrainian cities daily. Civilians die. Peace talks have the lifespan of The Trump University. And the United States; the nation that once led the free world, is being laughed at behind closed doors, while the guy who’s supposed to lead us is posting memes and rambling about tariffs.
Let me be blunt, as I always am: Donald Trump is not prepared to end this war. He was never prepared to end this war. Because ending this war requires thought, discipline, and, brace yourself, work. And Trump does none of that. He talks. He yells. He blames. He golfs. But he does not lead.
And while he dithers, sanctions against Russia are nowhere to be found; despite bipartisan agreement that they need to begin ASAP. And aid to Ukraine? Delayed, diluted, or derailed entirely. Here is what we should be doing; what the bipartisan conversations have been revealing. America should be reinforcing Ukraine’s defense systems with state-of-the-art drones, munitions, and a clear message; that democracy fights back. Instead, we're giving Putin what he wants; American indecision wrapped in arrogance.
The stakes aren’t just geopolitical. This isn’t just about Kyiv. This is about Kraków. This is about Berlin. This is about New York City, where I live, and where the next Russian disinformation campaign or cyberattack could hit. With Poland now electing its own Trump-clone nationalist, Hungary already under authoritarian rule, and far-right movements gaining steam across Europe, we’re seeing the start of a global domino effect. One where fear replaces fact, and strongmen replace statesmen.
If America retreats, the void doesn’t sit empty. It gets filled; with Russian tanks, Chinese surveillance, Iranian missiles, and North Korean threats. We pull back, and the world unravels. Because for all our flaws; and they are many, we are still the backbone of global democracy. If we bend, the whole damn thing breaks.
But here’s the thing that makes my blood boil: we, the American people, are acting like spectators in a burning theater. We’re watching Trump and his cronies light matches, and instead of throwing water on them, too many of us are just watching the fire flicker on our phones. We can’t sit this one out. Not anymore.
This isn’t the time for handwringing or performative outrage. This is the time for action. For protest. For organizing. For voting like our lives depend on it; because they do. Not just ours, but the lives of Ukrainians, of Europeans, of every freedom-loving citizen across the globe who looks to America as more than a brand. As a beacon.
The curtain’s been pulled back, folks. The wizard isn’t real. He’s a reality show star with a spray tan, a Twitter addiction, and the foreign policy depth of a kiddie pool. He’s not going to save the world. If we want to end the war in Ukraine, if we want to preserve democracy, we need to stop looking for messiahs and start becoming the movement.
So, go click your heels three times if you want to; but don’t expect to wake up unless you're willing to get up. This isn’t Kansas. This is a world teetering on the edge, and the same old Trump show isn’t just exhausting; it’s existentially dangerous.
Let me say it as plainly as I can: sit on the sidelines if you want, but when the world is run by dictators, don’t say you weren’t warned. We’re not just losing wars; we're losing the very idea of freedom. And that should terrify every single one of us.

Trump figured that his “relationship” with Vladimir Putin would allow a US-brokered “deal” that would be bad for Ukraine, great for Russia, and would convince Putin to out away whatever kompromat he waves in front of Trump’s face every time he tries to “talk tough”. He did not count on Zelensky’s and Ukraine’s fortitude in defending their country. Now ol’ flappy-cheeks Don is out in the cold, while Ukraine makes bold moves entirely without the imprimatur of the United States. Trump is a paper tiger….and we the people can and should take back our power.
