Trump figured that his “relationship” with Vladimir Putin would allow a US-brokered “deal” that would be bad for Ukraine, great for Russia, and would convince Putin to out away whatever kompromat he waves in front of Trump’s face every time he tries to “talk tough”. He did not count on Zelensky’s and Ukraine’s fortitude in defending their country. Now ol’ flappy-cheeks Don is out in the cold, while Ukraine makes bold moves entirely without the imprimatur of the United States. Trump is a paper tiger….and we the people can and should take back our power.

Please don't demean those noble and endangered felines by lumping the Tramp and them together. If only he was as endangered as they are, and subject to the same environmental destruction that he has determined for the rest of the world.

Great article!!

Michael, do you have information on the legitimacy of the ICE agents raiding ? Because they just look like Trump's personal militia cosplaying as law enforcement who are emboldened to act out their racism towards all immigrants. Why isn't anybody questioning their legal status and not doing anything about it ? Thanks

Great point about the thugs posing as law enforcement.

Aren’t there any requirements vis a vis exposed faces, visible badges with names?

If these are not requirements for all law enforcement officers, how can congress quickly create legislation?

Yes, Michael, you are spot on, as usual, we ARE still waiting for Trump to care or do anything helpful. And you right to keep this fight up! I hear you and couldn't agree more. I will share this post now, and will continue to remind people that Trump doesn't hold all the cards. WE HOLD THE CARDS. Always have. Democracy isn't a given. People need to stop taking it for granted. Democracy is a living, breathing gift that so many died granting us. It needs to be nurtured and protected. EVERY SINGLE DAY. Participate in this gift of democracy, or let it die. That's it.

Thank you Michael! Let's go everyone!

Great post. Thank you for working so hard to keep us informed and inspired.

While I am also disappointed and unnerved by the paltry sized rallies and Substack subscription numbers, I tell myself that it’s still early days and that it’s hard for comfortable people to wake up if they have been in a deep sleep.

Philosophizing only works for a minute however, and my mind jumps to what more I can do in this crisis, and I wonder the same for you, Micheal.

While your Substack post is terrific and important, I wonder if your unique perspective couldn’t expand into a second platform, (UTube?) where you could touch more people who need help as they realize they were played by the ultimate con man.

If you can help former trumpers acknowledge, (the first step in any 12 step program), that they were conned, and that they will not be judged but will be welcomed into a vast community that is slowly coming together, a community determined to make our democracy work better for everyone, then you will have put into action what only you can do.

Onward

Thanks, I’ll check it out but mea culpa is not the language that formed trumpers will gravitate to.

I agree. There are many you tubers who have way more followers than you yet I find their content weak and shallow. Great idea!

Thank you again Michael for your blunt reminder that freedom is something WE NEED TO FIGHT FOR or we will lose it!

You are 100% correct that everyone needs to make calls, write emails, protest, and donate to worthwhile groups such as CREW or MoveOn.org who are involved in legal battles and putting up billboards. There is also a website, https://turnoutpac.org/postcards/ where you can sign up to send postcards. I have done this and will sign up again. But Congress needs to get involved too. We need to call ALL democratic Congress people and tell them to go to El Salvador to see the detainees and see if someone can arrange for their return to the US. We need to call Joni Ernst 202-224-3254 about her "We're all going to die," comment and ask if she is still pro-life...after all what's the point with her attitude. We need to ask every democratic House member to cosponsor Al Green's articles of impeachment of trump. They may be in the majority but they can do these things along with visiting ICE facilities, particularly in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas to see the conditions as well as the people who are there to see if they have access to lawyers. So much to do!

Ukraine has made fools out of both Putin and Trump. Both well deserved. What's Trump going to do about it, send our troop's in to help Putin? Wouldn't put it past him. But he's probably to busy with his big birthday celebration to put much thought into this. After all he does have his priorities.
