We should abolish the Supreme Court. They are no longer doing their job, but are just an extension of Trumpism.

Term limits and restructuring will do more good.

Agreed! Even in middle school, I used to say to my American History teacher, term limits is just another way to give someone the ability to fuck shit up with no accountability.

While he agreed, he still gave me a weeks detention for foul language. I remain steadfast in my position on SCOTUS and that he was an asshole!

I'm all for that. I want the term limits to start now, but the problem with that would be that Trump would put more of his own in there right away.

Absolutely! But how? Whether or not we believe that God is the ultimate authority, we and our democracy are running out of time. Much as it pains me to say so, it may be time for a revolution a la 1789. How else can we force these unrepentant criminals from their seats of power when they appear to not fear the power of we the people?

In theory, yes. In practice, I’m not so sure. I don’t want to condone violence And casualtiesof any sort especially after the mess of January 6 but what else is going to work to remove these monsters from their seats of power? Do you suppose it can be done quietly with a cadre of armed US marshals walking into the oval office and other cabinet members offices to simply round them all up and arrest them?

Did you see the picture today of senators smiling with Netanyahu? Including my junior senator, Adam Schiff? Nothing says "I support genocide" like a picture with Netanyahu. Guillotines, yes!

Ilene Winn-Lederer's avatar

No Ellen, I did not see that picture. Nevertheless, I am at the point where I cannot bring myself to trust photos anymore. Since the prevalence of AI, how can we even know whether or not a photo has actually been taken or digitallycreated? I do know that Adam Schiff supports Israel but I cannot believe that he supports Netanyahu’s genocide of the Palestinian people. What do we really know? I would like to think that the Senator may have been in Israel to try and convince Netanyahu to stop his dreadful war but I am not a fly on the wall in their meetings.

Trumps personality disorder is more dangerous than anyone in Congress understands. Massive criticism against Trump will cause him to collapse. Keep pushing hard. Living with a narcissist, I know the drill. Trump cannot stand rejection. His acting out is the sign he is failing… is he at the edge??? Keep pushing

As a retired educator, this upsets me to the core. This Supreme Court no longer stands on its laurels when bringing down their decisions. They're part of the fascist movement. At least 6 of them have proved to be consistently.

Good morning Michael. Good grief, does the corruption ever end? Does this so called administration get a free pass to totally destroy our country, our future, the future and lives of our youth. He, that POS, is so screwed up and angry, that he is taking the whole country with him in his downward spiral. Definitely scary times. But, we can't give up. We have to continue to move forward, protest, share your posts and stand up for ourselves and protect the wronged in any way we can. Thanks, as always, for a great post this morning.

My parents drilled it into my head that a democracy is only as healthy as its education…of the 5 kids we have, one failed civics because of the worst, most boring teacher who was as disengaged as the students. The school let her graduate by making up the units in a sewing class (I wouldn’t have). Today she is the one out of 5 who is a Trumper…

The thing is, had the teacher been creative, engaging, demonstrated the importance of the subject himself, this child would not have rebelled and would have recognized the importance of, even as a teenager listening to someone other than parents, the topic.

So, yes, the education system needs help and new blood, but not obliteration and abuse, and especially not authoritarian control.

What can we do when the Supreme Court makes these terrible decisions? I think people need to understand the consequences of electing a president that will have an effect on these nominations. I talked about it in 2016. No one listened. The madness continues.

Impeachment of supreme court justices is done by congress. So it looks like we're screwed for now! I hope people learned alot about election consequences 😞 I think the 6 justices need to be charged & prosecuted, as well as this entire regime!

I agree. Legitimizing Citizens United and overturning Roe vs Wade were just the beginning. Why do we continue to respect an institution that has no respect for us? This national masochism must end before we are lost in the dust of history.

Allowing the release of that many employ basically Is giving you know who complete power. We no longer have a government with three equal parts. We have a non-functioning part. We have a can do anything part. And we have a we don't care part. That's how it appears to me anyway.

Correction: tRump is a sociopath; he does not exhibit symptoms of dementia in my experience. Every word out of his mouth and every action are deliberate. He has no empathy or remorse. He is skilled at manipulation and deceit. He is impulsive and irresponsible. He is aggressive and hostile. He is a compulsive liar. And on and on....

We are living in an authoritarian police state… tx to Congress’s and SCOTUS’s abdication of their power… the majority of people have not grasped that, and by the time they do, I fear it will be too late for our country to survive.

We begged Biden to do something about SCOTUS, they stole 2 Dem seats. He refused. He refused to even discuss ideas. We begged him to retire, he ignored voters. Be warned Democrats they forced him down our throats in 2020, in 2020 any decent Dem could have won, then polling 38% for 3 years his administration blocked primaries in many states & forced us to vote for him, then someone who polled at a negative 16. Be warned Dems, they are forcing John Kelly down our throats, he's part of the old school Dems ignoring all young people. Be warned Dems, old school Dems don't fight back. If one is on the ticket it's Biden 2.0.

Damn. If sanity is ever restored in our government, if the three branches are ever restored to equal power, then may I suggest some sweeping changes?

1. Term limits on ALL positions of power within these three branches.

2. Roll back tax breaks for the uber rich. They should be taxed at the same percentage as all Americans.

3. Make laws, policies, procedures that will protect our government from this kind of blatant power grab and overreaching the future.

4. Transform DOGE into an agency that ACTUALLY focuses on waste, fraud, and abuse in the government but without the authority to make sweeping changes without some sort of Congressional approval/oversight.

5. Fire everyone who was hired on the nepotism of being a tRump buddy, and hire people based on merit.

These are just my top 5 suggestions. I don’t think they are unreasonable or untenable.

I have a question. Would you still be working for Trump, if he didn’t kick you to the curb? I just wonder why people stay with him, until he discards them. And he ALWAYS discards them. I truly wish you much success Michael. I’m glad that you were able to see that Trump has loyalty to NO ONE. And all that are in his inner circle will be kicked to the curb, when they are no longer useful to him.
