WHAT THE HELL…Corey Booker voted with the Republicans to confirm Jarred Kushner’s father to be Ambassador to France?????

Kushner contributed to Corey's campaign when Kushner was a Democrat. Booker was running for mayor in 2002 and failed. Kushner was pretty despicable and went to jail and Booker defended him before Kushner's sentencing. According to an article online, In 2013 Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner hosted Booker at their home in a fundraising event. There's an old saying, "Politics makes strange bedfellows." This is sad after Booker's amazing filibuster 25 hour speech on the floor.

The Kristi Nomes Congressional committee interview todaywas mind boggling. That she was so clueless about the law while serving as the Director of Homeland Security is absolutely scary.

Hi you both, I'm in the UK and I've lived in Canada for over 40 years and traveled over the border many times and the difference is distinctive. Every time I went to the States and met a stranger and tried to have conversation it was impossible. Americans, even before trump were isolationist. They can't have a conversation with somebody who isn't as silly (dumb) as they are.

I lived my life working at any job I could get and travelling. I learned that Americans can't see beyond their town never mind their country. Most peoples to the world aren't like that! People, regardless of their politics can at least hold a conversation. Americans take everything to extremes! No matter if it's religion, race, economic status, whatever. They never try to understand what anybody else's opinion is.

Sorry that you feel that way, Vee. I have been to Canada MANY times and would never make a generalization such as that, even though I met some people like the Americans you describe. That would not be fair to them! I have lived and worked throughout the Americas, and I find that there are a lot of different kinds of people. Also, cultures are different. After all, we are human and not perfect. We learned to accept them as they are. Hopefully, you will meet some wonderful people along the way if you reflect love and kindness in the conversations and don't prejudge them before getting to know them. In our line of being missionaries, we found that it works well!

I'm sorry that you're missing the point. I'm not accusing Americans as ALL being unable to think for themselves. These forums on substack proves that's not true. I'm merely bringing to attention that, as we are witnessing today, that, it seems 1/2 the people who voted believe that trump is their leader. They did that because they like his views of the "other." Even you must admit that he is a divisive and corrupt man. He doesn't do what leaders are supposed to do which is help and lift up his citizens. He constantly gripes about how HE'S treated. trump is not a victim. He has had every advantage not given to most Americans and yet he considers himself a victim. He can't hold a conversation with any nation without bringing up the fact that he lost the 2020 election fraudulently. No other leader has behaved as shamefacedly as this person. Even your god, whom you profess to believe in wouldn't accept a man like this as a good christian would he "agent99?"

Hi, again, Vee.

Thank you for the clarification. I did not realize you were addressing conversations specifically about trump. I thought that the use of his name was a reference point in time. I absolutely agree with you regarding him and the glazing over of a lot of the citizens of the United States. I 100% agree with you on your assessment of him as a Christian and a person. I believe that one's actions should speak to their faith no matter their professed beliefs. His certainly do not match in ANY way. He doesn't even seem familiar with the Bible. My other comments on other posts, not seen here, reflect that. He never even claimed to be a "Christian" until the Christian Nationalist movement, which I am NOT part of, got a hold of him. To win votes disingenuously, he becomes a mouthpiece. My church congregants, by and large, voted for Harris. He was not even a Republican until running for office! That alone should have told people something about him, as well as his "playboy" life. He is full of contradictions. You are on point about him!

Tariffs are destroying small businesses that rely on imports. I personally know of one small business already that was destroyed by Trump's tariffs.

As for Noem, none of Trump's regime are competent to do their jobs - and it's probably by design because Trump wants to simply tell these people what to do. Trump is lawless, and his regime is made to be lawless.

With this Administration, just when you think you have heard it all, another embarrassing, unlawful or ridiculous moment drops. I have likened this regime to Black Mirror: The Apprentice and The Hunger Games, but now I'm thinking it's like watching episodes of Big Brother! (Sequel: Big Brother is Watching).

Meanwhile, Habeas Corpus Kristi (Noem) has once again demonstrated what we observe regularly among this new White House staff, that there are little to no qualifications! Meritocracy, purported by this Administration, is an ironic claim. I joke, but it is actually scary that our lives our in the hands of adults not as smart as a 5th grader.
