Happy Labor Day Weekend anyway, Michael. What bleeds me is not the high prices for food, but the incredibly high price we've paid as Americans as we lose our credibility and reputation worldwide. Now the World sees us as who we really are....Ugly Americans ruled by the feckless, cowardly, and self-aggrandizing. Maybe we need a bit of the pain we've dealt out to other countries and people in order to wake up. OK. Now I'll get my coffee and simmer down.

Reading books criticizing American policy will at least help you know you're not alone. I highly recommend "The Myth of American Exceptionalism" by Chomsky.

Holy hell Michael you are on a roll! Omlets like Wall Street insider trades...chicken soaring higher than Trump's tupee in a wind tunnel! 😂😂😂 Thank you for the giggle this morning...sometimes we have to find the absurdities and humor to keep us sane. Thankfully my son is vegetarian; therefore we stay clear of those prices as well as USDA not doing their job...‼️‼️‼️

“Chicken prices are strutting higher than Trump’s hair in a wind tunnel” - that’s what I came here to say is the best line in the piece, and you beat me to it, American Mama!

BTW I love Beyond Beef but those prices have soared as well… over $11/lb! Over $14/lb if you buy it in burger form. I guess the immigrants shaping those patties have been disappeared. 😡

That was a great read this morning. Yes, prices are rising on everything. He doesn't care about the people. His followers still have his back, still believe in the lies. Look at us with disdain. We are with you Michael. With you to the very end. I was asking someone yesterday if there is hope, he said he is just hoping to survive this......

In Chicago area, sale prices in this week's grocery flyers equaled actual prices the previous week. I guess they still wanted to do something for Labor Day, so one grocery chain was offering corn on the cob at 9 cents a ear, with limit of 5. I went shopping at 7 am to buy it, thinking they would go fast, but they looked awful - yellowed and looked as if they were stored at the bottom of a pile! I checked corn inside the husks and found most looked good, so I bought a few, and they tasted great after cooking. It seemed shocking though that stuff looking like this would actually be sold. Normally I think unhusked corn with this appearance would be sold as livestock silage! (I'm fine btw - just like to hunt for extreme savings.)

I just bought (Tamiami, Florida):

Two (small) New York strip steaks

Potato salad

Romaine lettuce

Roma Tomato (1)

Saltine crackers

Four-pack of Nature Ice beer. (Beer reduced by 50 cents to $5.79 for the weekend)

$38

I had a Republican (though not a MAGA) tell me very earnestly that he believes that while things are going to hurt for a little while in his spirit he KNOWS things will get better. It’s going to be sooo good we just have to wait a bit. This is the exact MAGA party line and to listen to someone that I thought was a fairly intelligent man regurgitate it in my face was frustrating and infuriating. After I asked him if he realized that tariffs are taxes on us and he replied yes I had to walk away. This is what we’re dealing with - people who will buy the BS lies because it makes them feel better about their life choices. Thanks for the good read and I sincerely hope you enjoy your Labor Day weekend.

Ask your friend if he remembers when Trump said that he was going to make American's so rich that they wouldn't be able to spend all their money. Ask him if he has gotten his allotment? With prices going up that allotment that isn't coming for him would not even keep his head above water.

Of course he has! Where's all the money from the DOGE cuts??? Where's all the money from the taxes (tarriffs) he's collecting??? He saves us money?? Where's all the money he collected from firing people??? In the White House and HHS??? He's putting us in the poor house, endangering our lives with the Quack Crack head in charge and we're having a better life? Where's the money? Going to pay raises and bonuses for all his creeps in the entire administration who does whatever he says? We've got your number trumpie. Justice will be served!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Any money that comes in to the government will never be seen by the average American. It will go to this regime and the richest people in this country. Trump's new crypto scam came out today. He's supposed to make a couple of billion off of it and it is already dropping in value from when it took off this morning to this evening. I sure hope the idiots that bought it wake up and figure out that it is just one of Trump's scams and that he just fleeced them. That's all he does, to people and our country. He is not capable of honesty and it's time that people wake up to that fact. I wish they would start fact checking his lies. Anytime someone says something that sounds too good to be, it is. Fact check it and find out to those of you that are believing his lies. Also, maga's need to start fact checking fox news. See if that is really the kind of garbage they want to believe. They need to quit being puppets on a string and learn to think for themselves. It's not that hard.

That line was used by his dear leader. It's nice that he is so optimistic, but I guess he has not realized that 47 was talking about himself. HE got richer. WE did not. If he really believes it, he should ask Team Red what the plan is, because there doesn't seem to be one except that we get poorer and 47 and Team Oligarch gets richer.

If you are having a quiet day, how about sending messages to Ken Martin, DNC? This was on their "The Blue Print" (you can join for free) this am:

So Ken, when does the DNC come out with policy? On Crime, On Healthcare, On Immigration, On Housing, On the Economy, On Due Process and the Constitution, International including Gaza and Ukraine? On woman's right to choose? Do you have talking points for your Senators and Reps? Why can't the Democratic Party come out and said we can do better and we really hear you? I have stopped donating because I need my party to stand up and say what they stand up for and what they plan on doing. I need my party to be more than just an alternative to MAGA Republicans. Are you talking to Meidas Touch, Michael Cohen, Lev and Aaron Parnas, Harry Dunn? They seem to have a better handle on Americans and concerns then the DNC. Stop your paid consultants and talk to real people. Wake up. Americans deserve better.

Yes, the other day at the grocery store, I passed on the steaks and bought hamburger instead. We do like to eat veggie burgers as well. We grow some vegetables and berries in our gardens. Living in earthquake country we keep stocked up on the pantry basics just in case of a disaster. Considering how many people are starving in the world due to DOGE’s slashing of USAID funding, I don’t feel comfortable complaining about the cost of food here in the US. Children are dying of starvation in Gaza and other countries. They simply have no food to eat.

I hope you're able to do what you usually do on Labor Day, Michael. If you drink, have a beer at least. We didn't have BBQs as a kid as we couldn't afford them. So, I never got into the habit as an adult. What I kept thinking reading through this is how little Americans really appreciated what they had going and that they took it for granted. Looking at out lousy voter turnout for most elections because of laziness and apathy towards who was minding the legislative store. We are reaping what we've sown. Is it too late? We'll find out.

My brother who loves Trump and what he is doing always has a barbeque on the Fourth of July and Labor Day. This year he had none, with no reason given. He has been doing this for 30 years. I don't think it's because of the money, because he has plenty. I think it is because of the guilt of supporting this regime and not knowing how to say they are wrong. I don't think it will change him as far as his thinking, but I can only wish that it would. Out of three kids, two are worshipping Trump. Sent one of them a clip to watch of ICE kidnappings, said they would watch it, but have had no comment from them. As kids, we were very poor and never had barbeques either. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were the norm. Now I have two brother who are not hurting for money, thinking that Trump is the best and myself, who lives below the poverty level, who thinks Trump is the worst and am probably the only clear thinking person in my family.

Tariffs are another reason for the high cost of beef. US pork (Smithfield) has been sent to China for processing, another tariff. We get a lot of our beef from Argentina a bigger tariff, and our processing plants are facing a labor shortage due to the crackdown of foreign workers. Trump did that.

If it's any consolation. Me too, but how many voted for Trump? In Miami? You'd be surprised! Now families are split, some never to be seen in America again, and there are no "do-overs," and the proof is in "Latinas for Trump." A women's group plagued by voters' remorse that ultimately led to its dissolution. So let's enjoy the holiday guilt-free and brainstorm about how to help Michael Cohen rescue America! Happy Labor Day, and may the force be with you!

Well, I am FIRED UP and would like to GRILL some Repubs to ask what happened to America first? We always spend the 2 major holiday weekends with family, and a trip to the rented house grocery store yielded a VERY HIGH PRICE! We stopped to each lunch at a restaurant and paid what last year would have been the cost of a dinner! Even the rental house went up 20-25% this year. But this doesn't impact the Billionaire in Chief. He's likely having the best steak, seafood, wines, whatever it is that he wants! He's not counting his pennies and wondering if can afford to carry out his traditions and rent a house again next year. He doesn't think about cutting it down to 2 days instead of 3, or affording it at all. Has MAGA noticed less change in their pockets? Will they still chant his name incessantly while he robs their purses? All the while, he adds more to HIS wallet. Once again, the American working class is let down again. This time, it's by the rich guy who begs supporters to send HIM $, HIM, while they work longer hours to try to maintain the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed.
