I too am on a very limited budget, and depend on SS and Medicare. I had a major back surgery four weeks ago, so it’s not letting me get out to protest, but WE will stand together and figt for our democracy and constitution. You go girl, I’m with you and Michael…and the rest of those out there fighting.

Hi Michael, I feel your passion and sense of urgency. Ty for this post as we absolutely need all citizens to mobilize in the best way they feel is appropriate whether it be attending peaceful protests, phone banking, writing and calling our Congressional Leaders...each of us can find a way to contribute and make our voices heard, but I agree we all need to find a way to participate.

I also wanted to share Dr. Bandy X. Lee's post today. If you are not familiar with her work check her out at BandyLee.com.

Here is today's post: https://open.substack.com/pub/bandyxlee/p/a-public-health-emergency-the-crusade?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=4jn475

Michael, please reach out to her and invite her as a guest on your show. We are facing a public health emergency and no one is consulting mental health experts. Is it Fear? Like you reported today, there is no time or space for fear right now. Let's all please call our Congressional Leaders demand they consult with mental health experts. Can you 'feel' my sense of urgency? Unprecedented times require that we think differently. Dr. Lee reports, " Facism is not a political ideology, but rather mental pathology in politics". Michael reported that DJT is a malignant narcissist and I'd like to add that what I've learned from Dr. Lee's writing is that this coupled with his dangerousess and lack of mental capacity is why he is unfit to serve. I sincerely thank you all for reading my comment and allowing me to share.

Anne Marie, you are so spot-on correct in urging Mr. Cohen and others to fully appreciate the crucial importance of the public understanding the dangerous severity of Trump's mental sickness. As a forensic psychiatrist who has treated over a thousand violent criminals in prison settings, no one understands Trump's pathology and its dangers better than Dr. Lee. I also ask Mr. Cohen and his Substack colleagues to interview Dr. Lee and help her to inform and warn the public. Very best wishes! James

How does that line go? "If your voice didn't matter, they wouldn't be trying so hard to silence it." Hope takes a beating each and every day, but it never dies.

I listen to NPR yesterday and actually had to pull my car over to listen to what Trump has done in the last ten minutes. He has closed down all Women’s health care initiatives research. They showed up to lock doors this agency was formed in 1990 Women’s Health Care Initiatives. There have been ground breaking findings in the last ten years. For one there isn’t one drug from any pharmaceutical companies tested on women. Never have they tested new drugs on women every prescription you take has never had been tested on a woman. I said it three times to let it sink in. I was a ER nurse in the late 1980s till 1992 and saw many deaths due to simple prescriptions. Not overdose on prescription but deadly side affects The ER doctors all across America testified in Congress to get this bill passed. You can easily look it up to see the astounding amount of research that has been documented and the major changes that have been implemented for women’s health and also cry about what they were working on and getting close to accomplishing The cost of this program was half what it cost for Trump to go golfing every week. Thought I had last night was that I guess Republicans haven’t figured out yet That a women’s body is the ONLY WAY TO GET TO EARTH.

I try every day. I realized my son's who I never thought politically would lean right. They happen to be young men with mental illness, who do work, but struggle with loneliness because of being marginalized. They slurp up right wing male media. I've almost had to stop speaking with my own children. The media has more power than my ability as a parent. Perhaps the treat of losing their mother might wake them up? I still toy with that idea but I don't want to further alienate them from society. I am one of their main connections to reality. My youngest doesn't want me to talk politics with him. He starts to get angry and that intimidates me. I decided yesterday the next time he says this I must have a come back and I decided it would be this; Why would saving our democracy make you angry? I will play those words like a broken record until he comes back with reason.

I will now find one of your videos to send to them that I think will get them to pause. I appreciate the visceral communication you share. I'm still intrigued at what in your life made you work for trump for so long? What was it that infected you? Why weren't you able at the time to see clearly? I think that's fascinating psychology. Perhaps I'll read a book written by you. All my best from Pro-Democracy (PD) neighborhood in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This is very sad, Heidi. So many people are lonely these days. Is there any chance of them finding friends through activities like maybe bowling or sports or doing something at a community center?

Working on it with my youngest. My oldest has a long standing job working as a paraprofessional with adults living with developmental disabilities. He is so good at this work. He recently moved to Maine to get away from Utah, and the move to be on his own has benefited his mindset coming more to the center politically. Sometimes these lonely men, and now we as a society become more lonely because of technology, keeping social and family connections are vital, even to a small degree, such as sending a hand written letter or card to everyone we know. I'm glad he's doing so well! And I love your idea. It's amazing how we've lost the art of letter-and card-writing. People don't even send Christmas cards much these days. What has happened to us?

It is easy to think, "It can't happen here," even if to an extent it already has.

Please see the film "I'm Still Here", based on a true story, which deals with a personal account from the Brazilian dictatorship era in the 1970s.

The film is stark and also beautiful. But it is sobering: THIS COULD HAPPEN HERE. We are in the early stages of a potentially brutal dictatorship.

It is hard to take in, but necessary.

Thank you, Michael
