people, are the last line of defense.
To reclaim our democracy, we must face an uncomfortable truth: we must halt the engine that fuels this regime. We must, together, choose to disrupt the very systems it relies upon. This means a collective act of non-cooperation. It means temporarily stopping the flow of productivity that empowers those who seek to undermine us. It means, for a time, accepting financial pain.
I understand the gravity of these words. I know the fear and uncertainty that such a prospect evokes. Families will struggle. Businesses will face hardship. But I ask you: what is the cost of losing our democracy? What is the price of living under a system where our rights are eroded, our voices are silenced, and our future is dictated by a few? That cost, my friends, is far greater and far more enduring than any temporary economic pain we might endure.
Think of those who came before us – who risked everything, who shed blood and treasure, to establish and preserve this nation. They endured famine, war, and unimaginable sacrifice for the promise of a free society. Are we, in this generation, less capable of defending that legacy?
This is not about surrender. This is about strategic withdrawal of our energy and resources from a system that has become weaponized against us. By stopping our collective productivity, we starve the regime of its power. We deny it the resources it needs to perpetuate its control. We create an undeniable crisis that forces a reckoning.
This will be painful. There is no sugarcoating it. But we are a resilient people. We are ingenious. We will organize. We will support each other through community, through shared resources, and through the unbreakable bonds of our common purpose. We must prepare for this pain, knowing that it is the necessary path to a greater good.
The choice before us is stark: a brief, intense period of shared hardship for the promise of a free future, or a slow, agonizing slide into authoritarianism with consequences that will echo for generations.
Let us rise to this challenge. Let us stand together, united in our resolve. Let us choose freedom, no matter the cost. Our democracy, our future, depends on it.
I'm with you. Let's start getting really active. We, the citizens, have to do it. We have no one else. Where do we start? I'm ready to start now, doing what we should have done at the beginning of this nut case's term. How do we get organized? Please, I need answers to do my part, as does everyone that wants to save their country. Just talking about it does no good. Please go to Change.org and read The People's Petition For Global Against AuthorItarianism. Good article. Am waiting for suggestions and acts that will help our country get rid of this regime that is trying to take America away from us.
I have no idea how to get people to act. I keep posting that we need to STRIKE and ask for help organizing. Somewhere there has to be information. How did they organize the protests, however we need way more than 5 million. To financially break this government we need all working class people to stop working and stay home and neighbors helping neighbors
No money should go to the government and large corporations. Even small businesses need to close because if the don't then at least they would not pay any taxes
This was successfully done in South Korea many years ago
If you get any more information please post it. I read that some people were only going to buy essentials in July. I won't make a dent in that, since that is all I buy, anyway. (Small income)
I found information about the people who organized the No Kings Day. We've had the Hands Off protest in my area. These organizations work well in organizing protests and such. I imagine we can all gather suggestions from these people on how to fight back against this administration.
Who’s behind the protests?
The demonstrations, organized under the slogan “No Kings,” have been arranged by a number of groups that overlap with the coalition that pulled together the “Hands Off!” demonstrations on April 5 and other recent large protests against the president.
Organizers include Indivisible, the American Civil Liberties Union, and 50501. Some of these groups organized protests during Mr. Trump’s first term over abortion rights and gun violence. The “Hands Off!” protests in April focused on the message that the president was threatening health care, education, and Social Security.
The coalition behind “No Kings” has branded Saturday as a “day of defiance” against what the groups describe as authoritarian overreach by Mr. Trump and his allies. Plans for the event were in the works well before federal immigration raids set off protests in Los Angeles and other cities.
As am I but I only buy survival items. Have been stocking up what I would need for me and my dogs to eat. Filling bottles with water. Will do with minimum. I can stay home for 2 months so far without spending a penny. If everyone would make this sacrifice we would not put any money in to our government and give them pain. We as a community can help each other and barter goods. Posting these daily may attract some organization to assist us.
I could probably not buy anything, but gas and milk, for at least three months. Fresh produce could come from the farmers market in the summer. I am willing to do it and have been mostly doing it since the start of this regime. How can we get a whole lot of others to join us? I, also think that most tv stations should not be watched. It's summertime. Get out and enjoy it. Leave tv's off the stations that don't tell the truth. Try thrifting, instead of buying from the commercial stores or do without. Save your money. Walk, if you can, instead of driving, save on gasoline. Fix what is broken, if you can, instead of buying new. Plant a tree or a rose bush in your yard for the day we get our country back. Please go to Change.org and read The People's Petition For Global Against Authoritarianism. Gives me hope.
Pretty much the same here, Judy. As inflation rises, the majority of people will only be able to afford the essentials anyway. If even that. Wait until this fall when the price of food skyrockets because there's so few people to harvest crops.
When you go to this site you need to read the one that was dated May 5, 2025. It gives me hope and we have former allies trying to help along with our citizenship. Please read.
I agree, I'm Canadian and I wholly expecting Trump to invade or assault our country. Charlie Angus whom you might have heard of has been "elected" the leader of the resistance here. We don't see our neighbors being disappeared in our streets like you do yet, I can't imagine what its like but I wish I could do more. My uncle and great uncle served in the resistance in Holland during WW2, they hid Jewish families in the basements of their family business, they masqueraded as Nazi supports and bought off soldiers with alcohol that my uncle stocked in his general store. It was the youth, very bright university students who blew out bridges, and did the dangerous work of helping the persecuted Jews out of Holland safely. In Germany at ground zero things were different. You are at ground zero, your country is being destroyed from within. How do you resist? These are the burning questions I have. Did you know a group of pastors tried to assassinate Hitler? They failed unfortunately and millions went on to die, assination seem to be the best option at the time. To be honest, the 6 millions Jews, the 86 million people who died in WW2 would agree. Things are just warming up in 2025. Where will we be in 2026, 27, and I can't imagine 2028. Its been 6 months! Protesting only works in a democratic government, Trump isn't listening, his brainwashed followers, nor his cabinet (I'm Canadian not sure what you call Bull Shit Barbie, Pete Hegseth, Steve Miller, Cruella Deville Noem and the rest)...infiltrating the GOP is one option for those with the credentials to do so. I feel compelled to do something for the migrants and legal permanent citizens who are being detained and illegally deported. Its heart breaking watching this. The brown shirts and Gestapo all ovdr again. I'm also Jewish so maybe I have some residual trauma passed down. Honestly I think the first thing is to find other like minded people to meet with and plan. We need people with skills such as computer hacking, explosives, fake document production, you name it. I think as things get worse you'll see people coming together underground to form an actual working resistance. It comes with a price, I've been saying things like this for awhile. Today I received yet another fake substake follower. Predictably they asked me " how are you doing today"....someone I've never heard of, they don't post any articles and do not have a channel, it's constant. I'm just an average person willing to speak out. Thats apparently is threatening to someone or something. Keep anything you do off of social media. The Nazi's were excellent at finding out who the resistance were and many went to the camps, as did my uncles brother ( also my uncle). He refused to give out any information. Doing so would have cost him his entire families lives plus the Jewish families they had hidden deep in the basements of their general store. With techology the way it is today who can hide? Cohen is right, we aren't doing what's necessary, just using words and protests, its not enough. We need something concrete to work with.
That’s what I’m trying to do. Nut, I can’t do it alone. I need everyone of my subscribers in this platform and all platforms to join the conversation and community.
We all have to join in, and do what we're capable of doing, at the highest level we can handle. Join forces with others, in our own capacities as well.
I can’t decide what bothers me more about Trump and his so-called administration.

Or maybe it’s the constant Hateful rhetoric and Racism.
Or Maybe it’s just the idea that we as a country would allow this convicted criminal to run our country like some Mobsters Crime Family.
What is wrong with these cowards that call themselves Republicans to let this continue day after day. Controversy after Controversy. Enough of this Con Man. Wake Up People. This CULT must be stopped.
The only way is to stop working for these Russian organized and the stupid Trump and the billionaires wanting to own their part of the world
NATIONWIDE STRIKE is the only way, however too many are afraid to suffer these fools because we must suffer some temporary pain. Let this regime continue they will end up suffering ever more. What happened to courage Americans
So what should Democrats do? Kidnap a few MAGA Senators so they can't vote? Kindap JD? Or Usha? I'd be OK with a filibuster, but I think MAGA will call the Sergeant-at-arms to arrest the Dems, and we'd be in worse shape than before.
Excellent points. I guess I’m letting my frustration make me impatient for something positive to happen. There is so much crap being thrown at us as either distraction or crisis, and we are being reactional and defensive instead of aggressive. It’s time to think outside of the box and do something surprising to knock Maga and Trump off their game. Something like Gavin Newsom suing Fox. I admit to not knowing as much as I should, and I’m trying to educate myself. I am open to suggestions.
I guess I am more upset with Michael's post than your comments. Thank you for replying.
Michael asks "where’s the strategy?" as if this were a game of chess. But there is only so much Democrats can do. at least legally. Democrats can scream and holler and swear all they want, but they do not control the Senate, nor the House.
Ever since January 20 there has been this "Do Something" attitude towards the Dems by guys like Michael, but no real suggestions on what Dems can actually do legally. Obviously illegal maneuvers won't work either.
I think the only thing Dems can do is what they are doing, for the most part. Informing constituents what's going on; having town halls; going on talk shows or having 24-hour filibusters; letting voters know that in the long run, THEY are the boss, and not Taco.
Let’s start with my Substack post of yesterday…engage in dialogue with Republicans. Those who will meet and talk must be deemed reasonable and wishing to serve in the best interest of country over party.
What do all of us want? Nothing is preventing any of us from making suggestions. I feel that Democratic leadership has built passivity into carefully defined tiers of their party, with lower "donation" tiers repeatedly being asking for funds, while upper tiers define goals without truly asking our detailed input. I think we are being asked to think creatively for ourselves here. Brainstorming doesn't require perfection.
I read, I listen and I post, restock and post again. I ask you Michael what next? Is this doing any good? We need more than this. We need a movement. We need to organize. Marches aren’t doing it. There are groups out there trying to make a difference. New Yorkers For Justice has been working for years. Like you, we can’t do it alone. We need all of the groups to band together and actually do something. Come up with a plan. Our party isn’t doing anything. Ken Martin, wherever the hell he is hasn’t said a word. It isn’t up to them anymore. It’s up to us. I’m sick of the inertia. I want to do something. Barry Manilow once recorded a song that I live by. It is called One Voice. It is an oldie but it has a beautiful message. A message that applies today. If these midterms don’t change things nothing will.
A true strike would be the best.... the short term pain is nothing compared to what will truly happen... you cannot pretend it won't happen, look what he and his puppeteers have done in 5 months... on a side note what was Lisa Murkowski doing yesterday? Sending this all day today: Lisa Murkowski, If you are afraid to vote "no" on this bill knowing 28% of your constitiuents will get kicked off of Medicaid then you have no right to be a senator.... you have no problem voting to send soldiers to war knowing they may die..... clearly the Constitution only has meaning for you as long as you do not "feel" threatened... you're a failure to your citizens as well as the country
Donald J Trump hates the United States of America. He will never forgive us for the mortal sin of denying him a second consecutive term. He will use his considerable charisma (evil charisma, but still….) to bring our country to its knees economically and democratically, and the complicit idiots in Congress will aid and abet him. Democrats, Independents, and principled Republicans must unite in the midterms to replace as many Congressional Stooges as we possibly can, from both Parties, and muzzle this monster before his destruction is complete.
Michael Cohen is the only former member of the inner circle that stepped up, owned his actions, paid his dues. His insight and clear-eyed determination to help inform us and call to action is critical. WE ARE LISTENING.
Michael - You are an amazing person and you give me hope that this country will be steered back to its greatness and away from Trump and his followers and those you do his dirty work. What saddens me though most is that life is not fair or just to many especially you. You are the one who should have been pardoned long time ago because you proved to be a descent man and a patriot among all go what you did and suffered and where you are now. Shame on Biden and the Democrats who did not pardon you. They claim to be righteous and fair but they left you suffer. You have my support and I admire you for the things you do and proves to be worthy of the admiration and thankfulness of many. Keep up the good and priceless work you do because history will reward you and your family will be so very proud! - Andreas Panteli
Michael, I am in true agreement. We no longer have a two party system. We face a government of theatre while a dictator is given full power. How do we get our country and freedom back? We work long hours and pay enormously high taxes so the wealthy can spit on us and enjoy life. We need to hit them in the pocketbook and stop buying their products. When the super rich see a decline in profits like Musk, they may rethink their fascist beliefs. Boycotting is a strong power we have as a people. As Michael says. We need to get our community louder and stronger.
The more I think about the "performative politicians" the more it hits me that they have no issue sending the military to war to defend the Constitution but what they truly only worry about for themselves is if they will miss dinner.... I am revolted by these people...
Michael please do a Q/A Live. Organizers, if there are any, please gather your ideas. You want to lead, then lead us. It appears your audience may now be ready. Please and thank you!
While I am here, the funeral for the slain MN. State Rep Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark was held yesterday. Trump couldn't be interrupted from his golf game to attend, or at least call the Governor to express condolences. Same with the VP. This is the scum the people of this country elected.
I’ll give JD Vance this one. He did call Governor Walz. He says he wants to be a good Catholic and Man, whatever that means. He seemed to derive great pleasure in breaking Senate ties AND to scream and shame others—like he tried to do with Zelensky. Proving he’s actually a shitty person.

BTW Biden and Harris were there.
I love your work and can say I’m proud to have become a member and now have a signed copy of your book! Keep doing what you do! We are listening. ❤️
